The Astonishing Light of Your Own Being

I wish I could show you

When you are lonely or in darkness

The astonishing Light of your own Being.

about this project

A bit of afternoon sun hitting the clay pot just so. That was all it took. I was hooked.

I’d been meaning to clean out the moss-covered pot on the back patio for weeks. But there it was. A wondrous form, a Tasselflower on the brink of blooming. Any other day, I would most likely have yanked that weed right out and kept on going. But the light demanded that I slow down and take a long look.

Over the coming days, the entire backyard came alive with delicate buds and gently twisting tendrils. And just like that, this project was born.

The Astonishing Light of Your Own Being asks the viewer to slow down. To consider the exquisite beauty and grace in these heretofore (most likely) maligned weeds, a nuisance, a bother. To pause and observe their astonishing Light…and perhaps you will catch a glimpse of your own.
